La Forchetta

We came across this lovely Italian restaurant after trekking at Burnaby Mountain. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, providing us a relax atmosphere to chat and rest. Love the Peach Sangria recommended by the server, the taste was mild and refreshing but not sour. I like my Spaghetti Vongole, the clams were fresh and the spaghetti was tender and chewy, which is the texture I like. Andy friends all love their food, just want to thanks the chef and staffs over there, good job guys.

The food was delicious, and the male server was very friendly - he made us feel welcome and took great care of our party. However, the experience was somewhat overshadowed by the female staff member (perhaps the manager?), who didn’t smile or engage warmly with us throughout the meal. We felt rushed and a bit uneasy whenever she came to our table, as it seemed like she was checking how quickly we were eating. It was hard to fully enjoy the meal with our family because of that pressure. If the restaurant is aiming to create a warm and hospitable atmosphere, I think it’s important to consider how guests feel - the customer’s experience should come before trying to turn tables quickly for more business.

We stop by on our way back home from Downtown and we decide to try it out. We came with barely appetite, so we know that will be a light dinner. We ordered A pizza for my child, meat balls for my wife and me the more hungry I ordered Pappardelle, then I ordered a 6oz house wine (really good to be honest) for $15 bucks. The place is cute and cozy, so we will be back soon.

If you are looking for a perfect local Italian restaurant this is it. The service is obviously impeccable right when you walk in, a very kind greeting and personable owner who treats every guest like their best friend. Cocktails of course being hand made are quite sweet and delicious. I can definitely see the cocktail menu expanding one day. In terms of the food their prosciutto pizza is delicious, their pasta portions are fairly large which is nice, price is also fairly reasonable. You get to watch one of the most driven on roads out the window with a beautiful view of the downtown Burnaby and sunsets. 10/10 would recommend to families, couples, and even friends!
